Question: How do interest groups use the legal system to their advantage?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Interest groups use the legal system to support their agenda. Public-interest law firms bring lawsuits (litigation) on behalf of individuals. Lawsuits are a way of changing policy without going through legislatures. As will be discussed in the Judicial Branch chapter, strategies involve amicus curiae suits (“friend of the court”) and class action suits.
