1. House of Representatives - Must be 25 years old, a US citizen for 7 years, and a resident of the state where serving. The term is 2 years.

2. Senate - Must be 30 years old, a US citizen for 9 years, and a resident of the state where serving. The term is 6 years.

3. President/Vice President - Must be 35 years old, a natural-born citizen, and a US resident for 14 years. Each term in office is 4 years. Today, Representatives and Senators are elected by the people, and the President is chosen by electors (explained later).

4. Supreme Court Justices - No requirements. Appointed for life by the President, and confirmed by the Senate. This life appointment is supposed to free justices from political pressures, like those experienced by elected officials.
